Announcing: New Spring 2024 Series
A new painting series inspired by a long walk in Japan and a book of poetry
On the 16th of May 1689, the haiku poet Matsuo Bashō set off on a 150-day walking journey from Edo (Tokyo) to the northern Provinces of Honshū, Japan. The result: a book of haiku translated into English as The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
In 2021, I recreated part of Bahsō's walking journey for ten days to wrap up my 18 months of living in Tokyo. The result: A series of ten paintings in a lush indigo called The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
This series of ten paintings is launching on my website on the 16th of May (I couldn't help myself). Subscribers (you!) will have early access to the website on the 16th to view and collect one-of-a-kind pieces. The series will include a small collage on found paper for a more affordable yet still original work and my largest painting to date, measuring 60 inches by 60 inches.
I will send an email on May 16th with a password to enter the site for early access. The site with the new series opens to the public on May 17th, so if you see something you like, don’t delay 💙
As always, thanks for being here,
XO G
